Worse Before Better

We've all heard it before. Sometimes things have to get worse before they get better. By April of 2008 my weight had ballooned to 258lbs!! Some of that was water gain due to a kidney stone which I developed. (A first for me. - And i hope a last)

While in the Doctors office I picked up a brochure for "Total Health and Fitness", a company who helps guide it's clients with nutrition and exercise planning as well as monitoring progress.
I decided I wanted to know more, so I asked the Doctor about it. She said it was a great program and that she was using it herself. You can check it out for yourself at: http://www.thfonline.com/ When I saw the presentation on their promotional DVD I felt like they'd been following me around or something. Finally I had someone who could accuartely explain why I keep packing on the pounds and help me get a plan together to reverse the trend.

I am excited to say that after seven weeks on the program I am down to 235lbs. I have'nt seen that number on my scale for over two years! More importantly, my bodyfat percentage is down over 4% from when I started. I've lost 2.5 inches in my neck. Three inches in my waist. And 1.5 inches around my stomach. My thighs are down, and my biceps are up. Even after adjusting for what I think was water loss in the beginning, I have still averaged over 2 lbs of fat loss per week. If I can maintain this pace I should hit my first goal in less than six months.

At some point I will post some before and after photos wearing the same clothes. I am anxious to see the results. I am having a lot of fun spending more time being active and less time on the couch.

Skinny Kid

Here's proof that I started out as a skinny kid. Forty Years later it's a different story. Weighed in at 248lbs. this morning. Everythings feeling a bit tight these days. Tomorrow starts a new year. I'd like to see if I can drop 40 lbs. this year. I've never blogged before so lets's see if this fat boy can get the hang of it and use it to document my progress.
